Rennae Hopkins identifies on her mother’s side as a Traditional Owner of the Pitta Pitta First Nations people. She is also a Maiawali Kaiawali woman, of the Boulia area of North West Queensland, but has lived in Brisbane most of her life. Believing her Aboriginality to be her greatest strength, Rennae gained her tertiary qualifications (covering Communication Design and Indigenous Studies) at the age of 36 and as a mother of five.

She now brings her extensive experience to our Student Support team, including five years with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Health Service, 20 years in the university sector and seven years in the Commonwealth Public Service.

“Together with the team, I would like to contribute towards enriched experiences for our students,” Rennae says.

“Please feel free to drop me an email, and if you are on campus come in and have a yarn and a cuppa.”
