Annette Simpson is a proud Murri woman from Inala, Brisbane with ancestral ties to Central Arrente country around Alice Springs. Annette comes to us with a Bachelor in Education (Adult Education) majoring in Aboriginal Studies and Language, Literacy and Numeracy.

She has over 25 years’ experience working in various sectors including Education, Health and Justice and is now excited to be working in higher education at UQ and in particular, atthe ATSIS Unit. Annette is keen to help the students as much as possible to make uni life a great learning experience and is often referred to as Aunty by the team and the students (or Nana by her granddaughter who is a UQ student). Annette would be happy if you drop in for a yarn and say hello. She says “ I feel very proud seeing all these deadly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people so determined and engaged in their studies to follow their dreams.”
