The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies Unit is looking forward to returning and new students for 2018.

The new year will start with the Senior Engineering and Junior STEM InspireU camps beginning in January and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies Unit Pre-Orientation Program on the 7th and 8th of February.

The Team Leader for Outreach and Engagement with the ATSIS Unit, Mr Sid Domic said, the Senior Engineering and Junior STEM InspireU camps are very popular and students from all over Queensland will attend the week long camps.

“Students will have the opportunity to participate in 3D Printing workshops, hands on Aerospace Rockets Activity, Traditional Games and day trips to Rio Tinto and the Boeing offices.

“Both the Junior STEM and Senior Engineering camps will finish the week with a Reflection Piece discussing personal highlights and life goals and a Gala Dinner presentation,” said Mr Domic.

InspireU UQ is a tertiary aspiration-building program for Indigenous youth, administered by the Outreach and Engagement team in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies Unit.
The program involves a series of residential camps themed around the professional disciplines of Engineering, Education, Law, Business and Health Sciences.


Applications for the July Camps are open 16th April close 1st June.
