The InspireU Program brings Indigenous high school students from across the state for a week long camp on our St Lucia Campus in Brisbane. During the week, students will participate in a range of interactive and fun activities, led by UQ academics and our industry and community partners.

The InspireU Spring Camp provides an opportunity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students from across the country to participate in a week-long camp that includes Business, Economics, Education & Law. In the inaugural Spring Camp, students will have the chance to explore a diverse range of degrees through interactive workshops, student panels, teamwork activities and industry visits.

The Spring Camp is the perfect opportunity for students who are planning to attend university but are unsure of what degree to study. In addition, the camp will allow students to explore the accommodation options at UQ, experience student life on campus, and spend time with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies unit.

Cost and travel

The reasonable cost associated with attendance at the camp, including board, meals and program activities plus transportation to and from UQ St Lucia campus where required, will be met by UQ. Participants may wish to bring a small amount of spending money.

Who is eligible?:

To be eligible to participate in InspireU Health Sciences, students must:

  1. Be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent;
  2. Be enrolled in schooling in Year 10, 11 or Year 12 in 2021;
  3. Undertaking an ATAR/interested in undertaking an ATAR pathway
  4. Have school attendance rate of 90% or greater.

How to I apply?

To apply for the InspireU Spring residential camp, you need to submit a completed Application Form and provide some additional information that will support your application. This includes:

  • A completed Application Form including:
    • the signed consent of one of your parents or guardians; and
    • the signed consent of your school principal and/or senior school representative; and
  • A copy of your FULL school report from year 7 to current year. 
  • A written reference from your referee supporting your application (i.e. referee letter).

Please note: the application must be completed in full, is readable and includes all supporting documentation required, otherwise it will not progress any further in the application process. 

Please also ensure that your responses to the identified criteria questions remain within the word limit.
