Orientation program

Orientation, also known as O-Week, is the official start to university for new students and is held the week before classes start. We encourage you to attend your compulsory Faculty orientation during O-Week.

ATSISU Pre-Orientation event

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies Unit (ATSISU) Pre-Orientation event is designed for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander first-year students studying at UQ.

This free event will connect you to the ATSISU and get you ready for your studies.

What to expect

You will:

  • receive a welcome pack
  • meet other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students studying at UQ
  • meet ATSISU staff and your Student Success team.
  • have the opportunity to sign-up for our free tutoring program, ITAR
  • learn about scholarships, financial support and other important programs.
  • learn useful study tips and tricks
  • meet our Student Collective group: Goorie Berrimpa.

Getting Started appointments

ATSISU is also offering new students a chance to register for a one-to-one ‘Getting Started’ appointment with a member of our Student Success team during O-Week and the first week of semester.

Book an appointment, for an intro to all that ATSISU has to offer and for help on your learning journey. Appointments are available in-person or online.
