More access to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander resources

3 August 2021

The UQ Library has embarked on a journey to increase the accessibility and visibility of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander resources across its general and special collections.

We are excited to launch, as part of UQ’s NAIDOC Festival, the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Resources.

Students and staff will have the chance to search a variety of curated collections that contribute to the nation’s truth-telling activity and, as a result, assist in the NAIDOC theme: Heal Country.

Embedding and increasing access to these perspectives will help all students have a more accurate and richer understanding of Australia’s history and culture, that will move towards a more reconciled Australia.

Check out some collections that relate to:

  • Activism and resistance
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander languages
  • First Nation authors
  • Yarns and spoken memories and
  • the Torres Strait Islands
