New Indigenous Employment Manager starts in August

Chris Levinge is a Kombumerri, Ngugi/Noonucal/Nunukul saltwater man of South-East Queensland.

He has experience in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employment and engagement with state government and the tertiary education sectors, with a highlight being the Diversity Recruitment Partner with the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games Organising Committee (GOLDOC) and his contribution to GC2018 Reconciliation Action Plan that received the Premier’s Reconciliation Award.

In his recent role with Griffith University, Chris has led the First Peoples Health Unit (FPHU) engagement portfolio and implemented the inaugural FPHU Engagement Plan.

He has delivered a variety of engagement activities and events on behalf of the unit and in partnership with community-controlled organisations, industry and government and his work has strengthened these partnerships in all areas of Indigenous health.

Chris seeks to create culturally-safe environments for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and to make community connections. He is passionate about language revival and how using traditional language connects to culture for better health and wellbeing.
